Florida has launched a criminal investigation into the British-American influencing Andrew and Tristan Tate, who flew to the state last week from Romania, where they have been confronted with accusations of rape and trafficking in human beings.
Florida Prosecutor James Utmeier said investigators have issued orders for search and summons as part of an “now active” investigation.
In the United States, the brothers also encounter a civil claim from a woman who claims she is forcing her in sexual work, and then slandered her after she gave evidence to the Romanian authorities. They greatly deny all accusations against them.
A former kickboxer and self -written misogynist who appeared on the Big Big Brother TV show, Andrew Tate has millions of followers online.
The 38 -year -old Andrew and his brother Tristan, 36, are facing separate accusations in the UK for rape and trafficking in human beings. They also deny these claims.
Uthmeier, a Republican, said in a statement on Tuesday: “Last week I directed my office to work with our law enforcement partners to conduct a preliminary investigation by Andrew and Tristan Tate.
“Based on an in -depth review of the evidence, I directed the Prosecutor’s Office throughout the country to execute search orders and issue summons to the Tate brothers’ already active criminal investigation.”
The brothers’ lawyer Joseph McBride released a statement later Tuesday on the investigation.
“Today, prosecutor James Utmeier dumped the Ethics Law out the window when he publicly took a party to a continuing case in Florida, where Andrew and Tristan Tate are suing a woman in Florida to orchestrate a complex story to use sex as a weapon to ruin their lives,” the statement said.
McBride called the comments of the Prosecutor General “inflammatory” and “biased”.
The themes were first arrested in Romania in December 2022, with Andrew accused of rape and trafficking in human beings, and Tristan suspected of trafficking in human beings. They moved to Romania from the United Kingdom several years ago.
They both denied the charges and spent several months under house arrest. A year later, in August 2024, they were confronted with new claims, including sex with minors and trafficking, all of whom deny.
Tates are considered to be required to return to Bucharest at the end of March in order to satisfy the conditions of prosecutors; However, it is too early to say whether they will comply.
Bedfordshire police are still looking for Andrew’s extradition for individual and unrelated allegations of rape and trafficking in human beings, as well as tax evasion.
In the UK, four British women have filed a civil case against Andrew Tate to the country’s Supreme Court, claiming he has raped and forcibly controlled them, accusing them that they also deny it.
These claimants said it was clear that he would not be prosecuted in Romania and appealed to the United Kingdom authorities to take action.
