Food authors say Australian influential recipes have copied recipes

Two cookbooks have accused Tiktok Influencer Brook Bellamy of copying their recipes.

Nagi Maehashi, the Australian founder of the popular recite of the food website, said that Mrs. Bellamy’s cookbook contains recipes with “Sweets for word for mine”.

D -Ja Belamy, who owns the popular Breaki Bakehouse, has rejected her claims, stating that her book contains “100 recipes I have created for many years.” One of the question was created before the Maehashi d -Maehashi published, she says.

Hours after G -Maehashi raised his allegations, US author Sally McKeni also accused Da Bellamy of plagiarism of his vanilla cake recipe.

Ms. Maehashi said a reader pointed to what she described as “remarkable similarities” between her recipe for cutting caramels and the one in Mrs. Bellamy’s best-selling cookbook, bake with Brookee.

She said she later found similarities between her Baklava and Mrs. Bellamy recipe, offering a side-by-side comparison in a reciprocal EATS statement.

Maehashi is the author of two cookbooks and her website, which she started in 2014, attracts a monthly readership audience of 45 million page views.

D -Ja Bellamy owns three branches of Brookie Bakehouse, all in Queensland, which were created in 2022. It is also a popular bakery of Ticktock with two million followers.

Maehashi said she had contacted the publisher of G -ja Bellamy, Penguin Random House Australia, adding that “they have brought lawyers and resort to what I feel legal.”

“It feels like the screaming operation of my work. To see them plagiarized and used in a book on profit, without permission and without credit, not just feels unfair,” she added.

Maehashi has retained its legal advice and wrote both Bellamy and Penguin.

Bake with Brooki was published in October 2024 and has since sold $ 4.6 million ($ 2.1 million; $ 2.9) copies.

Penguin and D -Ja Bellamy and they both greatly denied the allegations, with the publisher answering G -Ja Maehashi, confirming “Bwb Book recipes are written by Brooke Bellamy.”

Although he does not support illegal action, D -Ja Belami said he offered to take down the recipes from future reprints to prevent more aggravation “and that this was reported” fast “to G -Maehashi.

She added that she had a “great respect for Nagi”, but stood up to her recipes in a series of stories on Instagram.

“The development of recipes in today’s world is inspired by other chefs, cookbooks, food bloggers and content creators,” she said, adding that “the desire to share receipts” is what she loves when baking.

Both G -ja Maehashi’s cooking and d -Belamy were included in the list for this year’s Australian Book Industry Awards.

D -Ja McKeni, who author of the Sally Bake Website accuses Da Bellamy of copied her vanilla cake recipe, which is included in the G -Belmi and YouTube Channel cookbook.
