James Komi, the former director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, has admitted that he is not guilty of making false statements to lawmakers and hindering the congressional procedure.

The lawyer of G -N Komi entered the application on his behalf in a federal court in Alexandria, Virginia, on Wednesday morning.

Patrick Fitzgerald said he would seek the case to be terminated for several reasons, including that his client, critic of President Donald Trump, was directed.

Koma was charged a few days after Trump called on his prosecutor to take action against him.

A judge has set a trial date on January 5, after G -N Komi’s attorneys requested a quick process.

Both the prosecution and the defense expected the process to continue only two to three days.

In court on Wednesday, Komi Patrick’s lawyer Fitzgerald told the judge that they were planning to file several malls to reject the case before the trial, arguing that the prosecutor’s office was vindictive and that the US lawyer was illegally appointed to take over the case.

The case of G -K Komi was originally monitored by Eric Sibert, a Virginia prosecutor, who resigned under pressure from Trump after investigating another political opponent – New York General James James – failed to fasten criminal charges. Then Trump appointed Lindsay Haligan to replace him.

D, Komi appeared in a good mood when he enrolled in the courtroom on Wednesday, talking to his lawyers and joking. He was joined by his wife, Patrice Fire and daughter, Maureen Komi, a federal prosecutor, who recently fired the Trump administration.

After hearing the judge read his rights and two censuses against him in court on Wednesday, Koma was asked if he understood the allegations.

“I am honored. Thank you very much,” he told the court.

US District Judge Michael Nahmanoff said the two charges have been sentenced to five years in prison and a fine of up to $ 200,000 ($ 149,442).

Introducing the government, Da -Haligan took on the role of the Supreme Federal Prosecutor in the Eastern District of Virginia in September.

For less than a week of work, she provided a major court hearing against D -K Komi after prosecutors refused to take the case for lack of evidence.

The hasty turn was reflected in court proceedings on Wednesday, when defense attorneys complained that they did not have access to classified documents that prosecutors intend to submit as evidence.

“We think the cart is placed in front of the horse,” said Fitzgerald.

Judge Nahmanoff warned the government: “I will not delay this case because the government does not immediately transfer information.”

G -K Komi was the FBI director from 2013 to 2017 and was fired for about four months in Trump’s first term as president. At that time, Komi was heading an investigation into the intervention of the Russian elections and whether there were any links between Moscow and Trump’s campaign.

During his term, Komi caused a reaction from the Democrats when he announced only days before the 2016 presidential election that he was investigating the use of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton from a private email server. The accusations against Clinton have never been raised, leading to criticism from the Republicans.

Following the departure of the government, Komi is a fervent critic of the Trump administration.

The Federal Government claims that Komi lied to Congress during the hearing of the Senate Judicial Commission in September 2020, when he was questioned both about the Clinton investigation and the election of Russia. He is said to have misled the Senate by saying that he did not authorize any of the FBI to leak into information on news publications on the FBI investigations.

Prosecutors also blame the Komi in “corrupt” strives (ING) to influence, impede and prevent “the group by making false statements to it.

In the video, Komi posted on his Instagram after being accused, he said he was innocent and accused Trump of behaving like a “tyrant”.

“My family and I have known for years that there are costs to straighten Donald Trump,” he said. “We will not live on our knees.”

“I’m innocent,” he added. “So let’s have a test.”

The allegations against G -N Komi came after Trump published on social media demanding his prosecutor Pam Bondi, the pursuit of G -n Komi and others.
