Four killed by firing near Gaza Aid Center, local health workers say

At least four Palestinians were killed by the Israeli fire while heading for a center for the distribution of assistance, health workers in Gaza said.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said the troops have focused warning shots after issuing a verbal challenge in a group that is moving towards them and is considered a threat.

This is the most deadly incident that happens near the Gaza Aid Distribution Points, created by a new organization, the Humanitarian Gaza Foundation (GHF), which is supported by Israel and the United States.

IDF said it was aware of the reports that people were injured, adding: “The number … is not aligned with the information currently held by IDF.”

The last incident occurred before the dawn near a place to distribute help near Rafa in southern Gaza.

The Palestinian paramedics said they had evacuated four people who were killed as the crowds gathered in the hope that the center for help would open and they could receive food.

A woman said her husband was shot in the head while he was waiting to collect food for their family.

The Israeli army said the Palestinians should only move to and from the GHF distribution sites between 06:00 and 18:00 local time – and that at all other times it should be considered an “active combat area”.

GHF said it opened three sites on Sunday – one in a central gas at 6:00 and then two more in Rafa at noon.

Israel has recently started to allow limited aid in gas after a quarterly blockade, giving priority to the GHF distribution.

But the foundation was packed in a dispute after several deadly incidents were held during his first week of work.

More than 60 Palestinians were killed by firing during the first three days of the foundation, distributing help, according to reports from medical and local health authorities.

Numerous witnesses blame Israeli soldiers for killings.
