French police arrest Russian basketball player accused of ransomware: Report

According to the Newswire Agency France-Press (AFP), the French authorities have arrested a Russian professional basketball player, accused of being a member of a Ranswar gang.

Casatin’s lawyer Frederick Belot told AFP that his client was innocent.

“He bought a used computer. He didn’t make any mistakes at all. He was shocked,” Belot told AFP.

“He’s the computer with the computer. He can’t even install any app. He didn’t touch anything on this computer. It was hacked, or selling him by a hacker who wanted to throw himself as someone else.”
