French police were stuffed in shallow waters from the beach south of Bulon and used knives to cut an inflatable small boat – full of men, women and children – which was descending, dangerously, in the waves.
All those who quarrel aboard were safe as the boat collapsed in chaotic scenes.
The intervention was extremely unusual.
French police usually follow strict rules that prevents them from entering the sea if they put a life at risk.
“Let’s go in,” said one of the gendarmes, removing his armor and pulling out a small knife. His colleagues also removed their heavy armor, placing equipment in the back of a nearby police car before rushing into the water.
It is possible to see this rare incident as a proof that the French police – under increasing pressure to stop the tide of the migrant migrant crossing to the United Kingdom – change their tactics.
But well-placed sources in France have told us that the procedural changes that are now being considered will almost certainly focus on using patrol boats in the sea to capture “taxi boats” before being fully charged, not to approve more aggressive interventions by the beach police.
The official spokesman for the United Kingdom Prime Minister said the images of the French police destroying a boat are “an important moment and we welcome this action.”
“We want to see more stringent actions. This is exactly the focus of our work. This is the result of this close job you have seen,” the spokesman said.

A few meters in an offshore, the boat itself obviously got into difficulty. People were crowded around the Outboard motor, which briefly stopped but restarted.
The waves were heard under the boat, causing it to be rammed wild and there were strong screams by several children who were in danger of being crushed on board.
Earlier from the nearby dunes, two large groups of people appeared, already carrying orange life vests and rushed to the sea.
There were 80 or 100 people in general. But when the first “taxi taxi” – used by smuggling gangs to collect passengers from different points along the French coast – skipped over 100 meters from the shore, it was obviously already full and did not stop taking anyone else.
A few minutes later, a second boat, with almost no passengers, approached the shore, watched by the French boat on the coast, further in the English channel.
Initially, people were introduced forward into organized groups holding hands and directed by one person who seems to be the leading events.
But as the inflatable boat turned and turned to the shore, there was a scandal, as dozens of people escaped to climb up the water, which was at least a deep waist.
At first, the gendarmes refused to intervene and stood watching from the shore.
An officer repeated an already known explanation – that they are forbidden to enter the water except to save people.
But as the situation became more and more haotic, the officers of the scene clearly believe that it was a cross -line, that those on board were already in danger and that there was a brief opportunity to deactivate the boat in relative safety and while all the smugglers – who could fight – were scattered by their attempts to restart the engine.
While the policeman cut the tire repeatedly, there were shouts and shouts of anger and powerlessness from some of those on board.
A young girl who was in the middle of the scandal, cut into the stern of the boat near the engine, was removed while others attacked the nearby sand.
Moments later, the boat was dragged ashore by police when the migrants began to collect objects that had been put on the beach and then headed inside, up the sand paths through the dunes to the nearest village and a bus back to the migrants further north.
