A backpack that survived almost two weeks, lost in Western Australia, said it was “just beyond grateful that she had survived.”
Caroline Wilga, a 26-year-old German citizen, was rescued on Friday after spending 11 freezing dinners and losses in Bushland.
She survived by drinking puddles and shelter in a cave, Police reported.
In her first public statement after his rescue, Dj Wilga said she had hit her head after losing control of her van, which made her get out of the vehicle in a state of confusion.
She was spotted by a driver and airlift at a hospital in Perth, where she was recovering.
D -Ji Wilga thanks the medical staff, the German consulate and all the people who have helped to seek it in a statement to police in Western Australia, published on Instagram.
“I want to express great gratitude from the heart – thanks, which really comes from the depth of my soul,” she said.
“Some people may wonder why I even left my car, even though I had water, food and clothes there,” added G -j Wilga.
She said she “lost control of the car and rolls on the slope”, hitting her head “significantly” in the subsequent crash.
“As a result of the accident, I left my car in a state of confusion and lost myself,” she added.
“Before that, I didn’t know where my place was in culture from the other side of the world to mine, but now I feel part of it. I am deeply impressed with the courage, usefulness and warmth that was shown me here.
“Western Australia taught me what it really means to be part of a true community. Here, humanity, solidarity and care for each other are what really matters – and in the end it is the most important thing.”
She was found to walk barefoot from motorist Tanya Henley – whom G -jj Wilga described as her “Savior and Angel” – more than 30 km from where she had abandoned her van, on a hardly used runway north of Beacon.
G -Ja Henley told Australia’s public television operator that she saw G -j wilga waving on the side of the road and seems to be in a “fragile state” suffering from exhaustion, dehydration, insect bites and an early leg.
“Everything in this bush is very prickly. I just can’t believe she survived. She had no shoes, she wrapped her leg up,” said Gia Henley.
Prior to its rescue, Dj Wilga was last seen in a common store in Beacon, Western Australia, in its van on June 29.
“I’m sure I survived only thanks to this incredible pouring of support,” she said.
“The thought of all the people who believed in me were looking for me and continued to hope for me to give me the strength to continue during my most dark moments,” she said.
Rescue was reduced to “pure luck”, said the position of police inspector Jessica Sekuro at a press conference.
