Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted associate of sexual criminal Jeffrey Epstein, has been moved from Florida prison to a new minimal security facility in Texas, authorities have confirmed.

This move comes when Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year sentence for sexual trafficking, pressed the Supreme Court to overturns his sentence while seeking a pardon from President Donald Trump.

Earlier in July, Maxwell held two meetings with the US Deputy General Prosecutor, the details of which were not publicly announced.

Maxwell is at the center of the dispute over the processing of the Trump administration by Epstein’s files and the reasons for its transfer from the Florida prison are unclear.

While speculation was complete that Trump could pardon Maxwell, the White House had previously said that “not given or discussed leniency.”

The BBC contacted the White House for comment on Maxwell’s relocation to Texas.

“We can confirm that Ghislaine Maxwell is in custody of the Federal Prison Bureau at the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) Brian in Brian, Texas,” a BOP message said on Friday.

Maxwell’s lawyer, David Oscar Marcus, confirmed the transfer, but declined to comment.

In a statement, the late Virginia Jufre’s family, one of the victims of Jeffrey Epstein, expressed their “horror and disgust” by what they described as a “preferential treatment” given to Ghislaine Maxwell.

They further condemned this move as “without any notification to Maxwell’s victims.”

“This is the justice system that fails with the victims before our eyes,” the statement said. “The American public must be outraged by the special treatment provided to pedophile and a criminal accused of child sexual criminal.”

The facility, FPC Bryant, is located about 100 miles (160 km) from the capital of Texas Austin.

Like other federal prison camps, FPC Bryant prisoners are housed in dormitories, with a low-ratio of staff compared to other, more secure federal prisons. It contains prisoners, serving time for non -violent crimes and crimes with white collars.

Also housed among approximately 650 prisoners in the facility is a disgraced CEO of Theranos Elizabeth Holmeswhich serves an 11-year sentence after being found guilty of investor fraud in its blood launch in 2022.

For comparison, the facility in which Maxwell was housed in Florida, FCI Tallahassee, houses over 800 prisoners, both men and women. Both facilities are officially considered to be federal prisons with low security.

While the discipline is strict in the facility and all prisoners are expected to work, they also have access to foreign languages and business classes, can play sports, watch television and visit religious services.

Contact with family members is authorized for video calls, and prisoners are allowed visitors on weekends and holidays, according to a prison manual published by the authorities online.

Less than a week ago, Maxwell’s legal team said she was ready to testify to the congress about what she knew on the case, but only if she was given strict legal protection.

However, on Friday, the planned postponement on August 11 was postponed indefinitely, announced the chairman of the Chamber Supervision Committee.

Reap James Commerd said that while the commission was “ready to continue to participate in bona fide negotiations”, this would not provide her with congress immunity or to provide questions in advance, they asked for two Maxwell lawyers.

Earlier in July, she held two meetings with US Deputy Prosecutor General Todd Blanche, who said he plans to see if she could provide additional information about other people who may have been assisted by Epstein for sexual abuse of girls.

After the meetings, he said he would reveal what he had learned at the right moment. Maxwell’s lawyer said she had not made promises or sought anything in return.

President Trump’s growth is to launch more files related to Epstein’s case after he repeatedly promised to do so while on the campaign path last year.

Instead, Trump accused political rivals of using the case to dispel from his achievements after returning to office.
