Fashion legend Giorgio Armani will miss her two shows at Milan Fashion Week for the first time in his career.
The 90-year-old Italian designer “is currently recovering at home,” his company said. Its recovery follows a short hospital stay in Milan, Italian media reported.
He had “worked with the usual dedication to the collections” and would follow the show for men’s clothing on Saturday and Monday remotely, the company added.
It is believed to be the first time Armani missed one of his events on the podium, in a career that covers over five decades. Last year, he said he could retire in the coming years.
Next week, the shows will present the Spring-Summer 2026 collections of its luxury brand of the same name.
The longtime associate of Armani and the leader of the design of men’s clothing, Leo Del’Orco, is now ready to give the final bows.
Armani is said to be in a good mood and is expected to attend the upcoming broadcasts of the brand in Paris at the end of June.
Founded in 1975, the brand celebrates its 50th anniversary next month -as Armani celebrates its 91st birthday.
Armani, also known as “Re Giorgio” – King Giorgio – has built an empire in the luxury fashion industry.
Born in the northern Italian city of Piacenza in 1934, he studied medicine before starting a career in fashion and ultimately started his label with his late partner Sergio Galeti.
His fashion house has several different lines that have also expanded in Haute Couture, ready -to -wear fashion, accessories, cosmetics and makeup, jewelry, interior design and luxury hotels in cities such as Milan, Paris, New York, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai.
