Google Drive users can now access and search transcripts for videos

After launching automatically generated captions for videos last year, Google Drive is now launching searchable video transcripts. Google Declaration Starting on Monday, drive users can now see and search for transcripts for their videos.

The new feature has been released from the need to upload a video audio to a transcript service like Oater.

The transcripts will appear in a sidebar next to the video player and will highlight the spoken text at present as playing the video. Google says that the new update is designed to find specific moments in a video by searching users’ transcript. Also, it makes users easy to follow with a video content.

To access video transcripts, you need to open a video with caption on Google Drive and click the gear icon below the video to open the video settings. Then, you just need to select the “Transcript” option.

It is noteworthy that if you want to see a transcript, your video must have captions. You can tell if your video has captions if the “CC” button is set to activate the “CC” button in the lower right corner of the video player.

You can add the caption right-click on a video and then select “Manage the caption tracks”. From there, you can select the “Create Automatic Caption” button.

The new feature is all Google Workspace Customers, Google Workspace is rotating to users with independent customers and personal Google Accounts.
