Emil Soleil’s grandparents were released without charge, two days after they were arrested for the disappearance and death of the young child in the French Alps in July 2023.

Philip Vidovini and his wife Anne were among four people detained earlier this week on suspicion of murder and hiding a corpse.

The other two, both adult children of the couple, were also released without charges on Thursday morning, prosecutor Jean-Luc Blanchan said.

The Blachon also revealed for the first time that investigators now believe that Emil’s clothes and remains were transported to the forest, where they were found shortly before their discovery last spring.

G -B Blachon added that the analysis of the young child’s skull shows traces of “violent face trauma”, which made it likely to have a third party participated in Emil’s disappearance and death.

By Thursday, one of the investigators’ working theories was that Emil could wander alone and die as a result of a fall.

The four people who were removed on Tuesday were released after answering all the questions raised by investigators, said G -n Blachon, although he added that the investigation line focused around Emil’s family members is not yet completely closed.

“We continue to be determined to shed light on the circumstances surrounding Emil’s death,” said G -n Blachon.

According to French legislation, people can be arrested for interrogation for a certain number of hours until police decide whether they may have been involved in a crime.

The lawyer of Emil’s grandmother, Julien Pinelli, said that D -Ja Vidovini was already resting. “It was tense and tried for 48 hours,” he said.

“In an investigation of this kind … it is customary to try and turn off some things. The family (the angle) was one of the investigative lines, this is what prompted custody and I hope it is now placed aside.”

Emil’s last observation was on July 8, 2023, when two neighbors saw him walk on his own on the only street in the tiny alpine Hattlet Houth, where he stayed at his grandparents’ home home.

Emil, who was two and a half years old then disappeared without a trace shortly after. The next day, hundreds of people joined the police, Sniffer’s dogs and the military in a search, but a young child seemed to have disappeared in thin air.

It was not until March 2024 that Emil’s remains were found only 1 km from the village by tourists, which was said to have made the find while walking in a steep, wooded area that is not easy to access.

The disappearance and death of a young child shock France, where the case continues to make titles.
