Harvard sues the Trump administration after canceling the university’s ability to enroll international students by escalating a dispute between the White House and one of the most prestigious institutions in America.

In the case brought to Boston, the university called the actions of the administration a “gross violation” of the law.

There is a day after employees of the Ministry of Interior Security have said they will cancel Harvard’s access to student visa programs.

The Trump administration says Harvard has not done enough to fight anti -Semitism and change its hiring and acceptance practices – claims that the university has flatly denied.

“We condemn this illegal and unjustified action,” Harvard President Alan Garber said in a letter.

“The cancellation continues a series of government actions to avenge Harvard for our refusal to convey our academic independence and to undergo the unlawful claim of the federal government to control our curriculum, our faculty and our student body.”

The university will also apply for a temporary restraining order, he added.
