EPAMore than 100 organizations have signed a joint letter calling on Israel to stop the “weapon of help” in Gaza as “hunger deepens”.
Humanitarian groups, including Oxfam and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), say they are increasingly being told that they are “not authorized” to provide assistance unless they comply with the more Strong Israeli provisions.
The groups risk being banned if they “delegitar” the State of Israel or do not provide detailed information about the Palestinian staff, the letter said.
Israel denies that there are restrictions on assistance and says that the rules introduced in March guarantee that auxiliary works are being carried out in accordance with Israel’s “national interests”.
According to the joint letterMost major international non -governmental organizations (NGOs) have failed to deliver a single truck from rescue supplies since March 2.
They say the Israeli authorities “have rejected demands from dozens of non -governmental organizations to bring life goods,” citing the new rules. More than 60 requests were denied only in July.
The inability of help groups to deliver help “leave hospitals without basic deliveries, children, people with disabilities and the elderly who die of starvation and preventable diseases,” the statement said.
Sean Carroll, CEO of American American near East Beugee Aid (Anera), said: “Anene has resources worth over $ 7 million, ready to enter Gaza – including 744 tonnes of rice, enough for six million meals blocked in Ashdod just kilometers.”
The new guidelines introduced in March update the framework on how help groups should register to maintain their status in Israel, together with provisions that outline how their applications can be refused or canceled registration.
Registration can be rejected if the Israeli authorities believe that the group denies the democratic nature of Israel or “encourages delegitimization campaigns” against the country.
“Unfortunately, many assistance organizations serve as a cover for hostile and sometimes violent activity,” Israeli Diaspora Minister Amichi Cickles told Agance France-Presse.
“Organizations that have no connection with hostile or violent activity and has no links to the movement of a boycott will be obtained work permission,” Chicki added.
Bushra Khalidi, leading Oxfam’s policy, said Israel has rejected over $ 2.5 million ($ 1.8 million) of goods from entering Gaza.
She added: “This registration process signals to Ingos that their ability to work can come with the cost of their independence and their ability to speak.”
The warning comes when Israel reinforces its bombing from the city of Gaza by preparing for a plan for Take control of the cityS
Israel says it will provide humanitarian assistance to the civilian population “outside the combat zones”, but it has not been specified whether this assistance will be provided by the Israeli and US -supported GAZA (GHF).
Israel says the system is needed to stop Hamas from stealing help, Hamas denies.
The UN this month reported that 859 Palestinians were killed near GHF’s objects since May, GHF denies.
In the joint statement, Aitor Zabalgogeazkoa, a MSF emergency coordinator in Gaza, said the “militarized food spread scheme has a weapon hunger”.
MSF Secretary General, Chris Lockuar, told the BBC that GHF was a “trap for death” and the humanitarian situation in Gaza is “hanging from a thread”.
Hamas’s attack in 2023 died about 1,200 people in Israel, with 251 seized and taken in gas as hostages.
Israel’s offensive has since killed nearly 62,000 Palestinians, according to Hamas Health Ministry. It says 235 people, including 106 children, have also died due to hunger and malnutrition.
