“I heard an explosion, I saw fire and smoke”

A Bangladesh teacher described the moment he witnessed a catastrophe in the school campus in the capital Dhaka.

Masud Tarik was at the gates of the Milestone School when he heard an explosion behind him.

At least 19 people were killed, including the pilot when a Bangladeshi Air Force training plane crashed at school on Monday.

About 164 people were injured, with 50 people – including children – taken to a hospital with burns.

The armed forces said the jet of the F-7 had mechanical damage after take-off.
