Dating Safety App, which allows women to check men and anonymously share the red flag behavior is hacked, displaying thousands of images, publications and comments from members.
Tip Tip with tea, application for women based in the United States alone, with 1.6 million users, said there was “unauthorized access” to 72,000 images sent by women.
Some included images of women who hold photos identification for the purpose of the check that TEA’s own privacy policy promises “deleted immediately” after authentication.
Tea said the offense affected the members who registered before February 2024, he added that he “acted quickly” and “worked with some of the most trusted cybersecurity experts”.
The app has recently survived the jump of popularity – as well as the criticisms of some who claim to be anti -male.
Tea allows women to check that potential partners are married or registered sexual criminals, as well as to release reverse images to protect themselves from “catfish” where people use fake online identities.
But one of the most reflective aspects of tea is that it allows women to share information about the men they met with to “avoid red flags”, but also to emphasize those with the qualities of a “green flag”.
The company said the violated photos “cannot be related to tea publications in any way.”
The company blocks screenshots so that publications are not shared outside the app.
But on Friday, he also admitted that an additional 59,000 images of the app showing publications, comments and direct messages were available from more than two years ago.
Tea said, “We do every step to protect this community – now and always.”
BBC News contacted comment tea.
The company was established in November 2022 by Sean Cook, a software engineer who said he was inspired to create tea after witnessing online dating experiences.
He told Medium in May: “I was shocked at how easy it was for catfish, scammers and criminals to take advantage of women in dating apps and how few traditional dating applications make to protect consumer.”
Some men – and women – challenge these types of groups, claiming that they put men at risk of invasion of privacy and slander.
Earlier this year, a man named Nico D’Ambrosio took legal action against Meta -Metal because of a number of statements made for him in a chat group called “Do we meet the same person.”
The trial was dumped by a federal judge in Illinois.
