At the AI Action Summit in Paris this week, the United States refused to sign a summary statement of resolutions. But it appeared: Vice President JD Vans made a statement to the audience, technology leaders and controllers. In a heavy conference on equitable AI development – especially, beyond the external influence of US companies – and the government fits the mix where the Vans Trump administration looks at the issues: America is dominant; It wants to be there; And if that is the case then the control will be threatened.
The United States is developing its own AI action plan, he said, “It avoids additional alert regulatory system by ensuring that it benefits from all American technology and its converter.” Vans has increased an invitation to other countries to work with the United States by ignoring any of the current EU regulations and “Follow that model if it makes sense for your countries.”
The speech refers to a wide shift that surrounds the AI risk concept, which was previously dominated in conversation. Vans said, “I am not here to talk about AI protection this morning, which was the title of the conference a few years ago,” Vans said. “I’m here to talk about AI opportunities.” His message: Wants to be number one in the United States and control is a killer.
Encouraging the room to be less risky, Vans outlined four fields where he said the United States would focus on its promises.
First, the government will ensure that US technology is “the global gold standard” and “the choice of choice for others” as the government and the business they create services as well as “preferred partner for others”.
Secondly, however … the control can “kill” if it is extra. He said that uncontrolled and “pro-growth” AI principles were the way to move forward, he said.
Third, Vans taps on bias question and uses AI to manipulate information. “The American AI will not be chosen for authoritarian censorship to be chosen,” he mentioned.
To the end, he addressed the issue of labor and how AI could affect it. “The Trump administration will maintain a way of worker growth for AI. So it can be a strong tool for creating jobs in the United States. ”
Vans AI also used the speech to slam the concept of protection of all its assumptions. In a moment, he indicated that focusing on it was at the expense of trying to encourage more industrialization.
“AI cannot win by hand -out about future protection,” he said. “It creates manufacturing facilities from reliable power plants that will win the future chips.”
Later he returned to AI security, confusing that it was pressured for opportunistic and political reasons.
“When a huge arrival asks us for our protection rules, we should ask if the protection control is for the benefit of our people or for the benefit of the people,” he said. “Now, over the past few years, we have seen government, business and non -profit organizations as unprotected and I believe that the perfect orthodial social agenda through AI.”
Vans went a bit behind the end of the speech, but just a little. “Of course, this does not mean that all concerns about security go beyond the window, but focus issues. And we must now concentrate on thunderstorms in the bottle, our most brilliant inventor, and use AI to improve our country and their people’s well -being, “he said.
The focus on the light control, satirical, was not different from the message of European officials at the summit.
“AI needs to be confident and safe for the people. And the purpose of the AI law is to provide a single set of safe rules across 450 million people across the European Union, ” TuesdayThe “Instead of 2 27 different national regulations and protection in the interest of the business, at the same time I know we need to make it easier and we need to cut our red tape and we will.”
The convenient topic of high-level speech is how to apply the ideas in the real world they do not have to face and what happens when these ideas oppose each other in complex situations. It can be good here too.
Vans has not created any specific specifications around how the AI equipment of the United States will be operated by the United States, nor does the AI already impact on labor, dozens of technology companies have referred to the cause of the workplace.
Or he did not parse how he supported the type of control – “a level play field” – can play for smaller clothing than large technology companies. If the rules are created to help encourage smaller companies to develop and achieve success, it may be in conflict with the agenda of the larger business.
The conference continues today.
