The Supreme Court of India changed its previous order by asking the Authorities in Delhi and its suburbs to move all stray dogs into shelters against the background of widespread protests from the animal welfare groups.
The three -judge bench said that homeless should be released after vaccination and sterilization, but added that dogs with rabies or aggressive behavior should be immunized and held in shelters.
The court also banned the nutrition of stray dogs in public spaces and ordered the target special areas.
On August 11, the bench with two judges expressed concern about the growing “threat of dog bites leading to rabies” in Delhi and her suburbs.
The population of Delhi’s stray dogs is estimated at one million, such as the suburban Noid, Gaziabad and Gururgram also see the rise, say municipal sources.
India has millions of stray dogs, and the country represents 36% of the total death in the world, according to the World Health Organization.
To deal with the dog threat, on August 11 the Supreme Court ordered the authorities in the capital and its suburbs to round Up all stray dogs and place them in shelters.
He ordered the authorities to build shelters to shelter these dogs after eight weeks.
The order contradicts the existing rules stating that stray dogs should be placed on their original object after being sterilized in shelters, igniting strong protests and legal challenges by several animal welfare groups.
They called for more humorous solutions such as vaccination and castration and warned that putting all homeless in the shelters would lead to problems such as overcrowding and shortening.
After the reaction, the Supreme Court created a bench with three judges to hear the challenge.
On Friday’s decision, the court remained an earlier order to round all homeless, saying that non-aggressive, non-infected dogs could be placed in their place of shooting after being vaccinated and castrated.
The court also stated that animal lovers can apply for municipal corporations to accept homeless, but these dogs should not be returned to the street.
The Court added that action would be taken against people who were found to feed stray dogs in public areas and warn groups of human human attitude not to interfere with his commandments.
The Supreme Court also said it would formulate a national policy around stray dogs after hearing similar cases that are pending in different states.
