The Israeli forces have killed more than 51 Palestinians and wounded much more after finding a fire near a place to distribute help in South Gaza, witnesses and rescuers say.

The Hamas Civil Protection Agency said the Israeli troops were shooting on crowds near the Han Henis Help site. More than 200 people have been reported to have been injured.

The Israeli military told the BBC that he was considering reports.

This is the most and potentially the most deadly of the almost daily firing, which are recently held near the places of distribution of assistance in Gaza.

Almost all the casualties in Gaza in recent days have been related to the provision of assistance, not the Israeli strikes on Hamas’s goals.

Witnesses say the Israeli forces have opened fire and have an area near an intersection east of Khan Eunice, where thousands of Palestinians have gathered in the hope of receiving flour from a world food program (WFP) site, which includes a community cuisine nearby.

A local journalist and eyewitnesses said the Israeli drones fired two rockets, followed shortly after a shell of the Israeli reservoir located 400 and 500 meters from the crowd. The explosions caused many casualties.

The crowd gathered near a key path leading to the town of Bani Suhaila, an area where there were weeks of continuing Israeli military operations.

Nasser Hospital, the main functioning medical facility in the area, is overwhelmed by the number of victims. It is so overcrowded that the many injured lie on the floor while medical staff cures their injuries.

A video showing the immediate consequence of the incident and shared on the social media is located by the BBC, checks on the spot in Han Einnis. The spokesman for the Gaza Mahmoud Civil Protection Agency Basal told AFP that at least 50 people had been killed. “Israeli drones fired at citizens. A few minutes later, Israeli tanks fired several shells to citizens, which led to a large number of martyrs and wounded,” he said.

In a statement, the IDF said that “was identified in the neighborhood of a truck for assistance, which was rammed in the area of Khan Einnis, and near the IDF troops operating in the area.”

It says “is aware of reports on a number of injured persons from the IDF fire after the crowd approach” and the incident was discussed.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said it had received reports of a mass incident with victims.

“This is again the result of another initiative to spread foods,” says Tanos Gargavaganis, who trauma to the surgeon and an emergency officer.

“There is a constant connection with the positions of the four declared places for the distribution of food and the mass incidents with victims,” he added, saying the injuries in recent days were predominantly from firearms.

For weeks, medical staff warns that the Nasser hospital can be buried and unable to continue to work under the pressure of many casualties, lack of medical supplies and Israeli evacuation orders in the vicinity.

In recent days, the hospital has been involved in an almost daily influx of casualties from incidents of firing near the distribution of assistance managed by the Humanitarian Gaza Foundation (GHF) – supported by Israel and the United States – in southern and central gas.

In almost all those incidents, witnesses said Israeli troops were opening fire, although there were reports of local armed artillerymen shooting at people.

The IDF’s answer is to say that his troops warn people not to approach them – and then fire warning shots when what Idf calls “suspects” was acted in a way that is considered a threat. The Israeli army has provided little or no details beyond that.

Israel does not allow international news organizations, including the BBC in Gaza, checking what is happening there is difficult.

GHF also responded to firing, saying that they should not be mentioned in connection with their operations, as incidents happen far from their sites.

But there is no doubt that thousands of Palestinians will not be gathered in desperate demand for limited supply of food in these areas, if it wasn’t for the way the new distribution system was created.

IDF also told the Palestinians not to aim to support the distribution sites between 18:00 and 06:00 local time. But in order to get to the sites and have a chance to get food, people have a small option.

The GHF website video shows huge crowds of Palestinians who are rushing to try to get food plots without obvious control from the organization. He has already closed his sites for a short while at least twice to try to improve security.

The other way of getting help in gas – with about 100 trucks a day allowed by Israel – also increasingly sees people to be shot while trying to get to deliveries, whether from distribution points or from the convoy itself while traveling to them.

This is a sign of a breakdown both in gas security and in the aid distribution system itself.

Hamas responded to the last incident, again describing the centers of help as a death trap.

The plunder among the population, desperate for scarce food supplies – with criminal gangs, militias and Hamas, who also work for their own purposes – made the situation even more dangerous.

Critics are considering GHF by enabling a plan for the Israeli government to displace the Palestinians to the south in the smaller regions of Gaza. But Israel – who has long been striving to remove the UN as a major humanitarian supplier of Palestinians – claims that the alternative system is needed to stop Hamas to steal help.

On Monday, UN Human Rights Chief Volker Turk said Israel weapons food and called for a full investigation into firing.

UNRWA leader – the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees, Philip Lazarini, said that “tragedies continue to be away in the Gaza, as the attention moves elsewhere.”

Still, there seems to be no plan from Israel, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation or the international community to find a way to prevent the Palestinians from nearly daily, as they take their lives in their hands to seek a scarce food supply.

It’s been 20 months since Israel launched a military campaign in Gaza in response to a cross -border attack led by Hamas against Israel on October 7, 2023, in which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were hostage.

Since then, more than 55 297 people have been killed in Gaza, according to the health ministry in the territory.
