Pop star Katie Perry will blow out into space as part of the upcoming flight of all women of the new rocket of blue origin.

The fireworker’s singer will join the fiancée of Blue Origin owner Jeff Bezos Lauren Sanchez, CBS Gayle King’s presenter, former NASA Aisha Bow Rocket scientist, Civil Rights Activist Amanda Nguyen and the producer of the movie Kerian Flyn.

Blue Origin said this was the first space flight of all women to take place after the Soviet Union solo mission Valentina Tereshkova in 1963.

There is no specific date for the start, but Blue Origin said it would take place this spring.

Katie Perry is planned to be on their tour from April 23 to November 11, so this trip is expected to take place before.

“If he had told me that I would be part of the first crew of all women in space, I would have believed you. Nothing was beyond my imagination as a child,” Perry said in a statement quoted by Newsweek.

The mission of the NS-31 will be the 11th human space flight for the new shepherd rocket and the 31st in its history. So far, the program has released 52 people into space.

A trip on the new Shepard usually lasts about 11 minutes, according to Blue Origin. It is completely autonomous – which means there are no pilots – and takes the passengers along the Karman line, internationally recognized as the edge of space.

Blue Origin credits Lauren Sanchez for the merger of the mission, saying in his press release that it is an “honor to lead a team of mission researchers that will cause their prospects on Earth, will allow them to share their own stories and to create a lasting effect that will inspire generations.”

Sanchez first announced his plan to fly a crew for all women in a rocket of blue origin in 2023 in an interview with Vogue, stating that they were “making the way to women.”

This is the latest group of celebrities to fly to space.

Bezos himself flies on the company’s first mission in 2021. The joint host of Good Morning America Michael Fear and Star Trek actor William Shatner are also blown up into space of one of Bezos’ rockets.

Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin Galactic, made a trip aboard the VSS Unity spacecraft in July 2021. However, SPACEX founder Elon Musk is yet to make a trip.
