Les Amis, the European app helping women form friendships, launches in New York

Making friends as an adult can be tough, especially after moving to a new city. Fortunately, modern technology exists and more people are wandering on applications like bamboo for friends to quickly form new friendships.

Les Amis uses AI to pair users with similar interest and encourages them to attend local events provided in their app, such as pottery classes, book clubs, wine testings and pile.

Anna Bilich (former PayPal) created this app in 2022, along with his co-founder Oleg Pashinin (former Google AI), after fought for his social circle after being transferred.

Now the European-established app is currently rotating in the US market. It was launched in New York earlier this month.

Les Amis (“Friends” French) users are designed to make it easier to communicate with equal people in their region. It has a setup similar to dating applications, where users select profile photos, write a bio and choose from the list of interest, including poems, gardens, yoga, martial arts and more.

The app includes an AI assistant called “Amis” that helps in the matching process. Every two weeks, users can participate in the matching rounds where AI connects to a potential friend on the basis of their share of interest. It connects others at the same life level – they are unmarried, married, a mother, a new city in the city, even looking for a network with someone in comparative career.

AI determines matches with Monday, giving users enough time to chat and adjust after the week.

In addition, the app has an explore page to sign up for users to sign up for local events and experiences such as workshops, social assembly and recreational activities. It has recently launched “Trips”, where users can go to destinations like Morocco, Iceland and Amalfi coast.

The application works on a member-based business model, with fees that are changed by City. For example, the monthly fee is $ 70 in New York and $ 55 in Amsterdam. Membership includes a flexible credit system to spend on experience, which can be spent in any city available in Les Amis, which enables members to participate in events while traveling.

For US markets, the app was launched in Austin last May in addition to New York. Les Amis is planning to extend the next Boston, then Washington, DC, next month and Miami October. A launch in Los Angeles is also on a roadmap.

It is important to note that no lace Amis events are currently happening in New York, but they will be launched soon August 25. The app is still in the applicable phase and has received more than 2,000 applications from New York users.

Total, the app installed about 120,000 and about 30,000 women participated in events till today. The company also said that it recently reached $ 1 million at the annual run rate.
