Hundreds of thousands of people are left without power in Australia after cyclone brought wild times to the east coast.

Communities in Southeastern Queensland and North New South Wales (NSW) began cleaning on Sunday after the storm caused a wide flood and failed power lines and trees.

The body of a 61-year-old man was restored by water waters on Saturday, while in a separate incident, 12 soldiers were taken to hospital after their convoy crashed on the way to rescue operations.

The storm weakened at the time he made the land near Brisbane on Saturday night, but Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Sunday warned the locals of the ongoing wild weather and the risks of floods.

“The situation in Queensland and North New South Wales remains very serious due to lightning flood and heavy winds,” Albanese said.

“Strong rainfall is expected, damaging wind gusts and coastal effects on the surf to continue in the coming days.”

Cyclone Alfred has revolved for days off the east coast of the country as a 2 category cyclone before weakening a tropical depression on Saturday.

By Sunday evening, emergency services held over a dozen rescue in Queensland and NSW – most involved people trapped by growing waters in their cars or homes. The NSW Emergency Service announces more than 6,000 call calls.

Almost 290,000 properties in the affected regions are left without energy, and energy companies have warned residents that eclipses can continue for days.

Police said they had found a body on Saturday in search of a 61-year-old man who disappeared on Friday after his car was caught in water waters in Dorigo, North NSS.

The emergency reactions witnessed the man who ran out of his car and got on a tree near the river bank, but the rescuers failed to reach him before he was swept away.

In a separate incident on Saturday, 12 soldiers were injured in a convoy crash in Lismore, about 200 km south of Brisbane, as they were on the way to rescue and recovery.

The soldiers were still in hospital on Sunday, two of them said in serious condition, New Wales Prime Minister Chris Mins told a press conference.

“We wish a speedy recovery to all these young soldiers,” he said.

Queensland’s police authorities have said they have not registered casualties or missing people in the country so far as a result of a meteorological event.
