Mexico is seeking compensation from the US YouTuber Mrbeast and a production company, accusing them of the ancient pyramids of the nation for commercial profit.
The video “I studied 2000 -year ancient temples” shows the influence and its team exploring the ancient Mayan cities with permission from local authorities.
But in a part of the video that has received more than 60 million views a week, Mrbebeast advertises its chocolate product as a Mayan Dessert and calls on viewers to buy it.
Authorities said that although you have given YouTuber to shoot on the sites, they have not authorized the use of profit. A MrBeast representative denied some of the allegations.
YouTuber spokesman said to the BBC: “No material has been shot for advertising any archaeological sites observed by Ina (National Institute of Anthropology and History).”
In the video, the scene that promotes the chocolate breakfast seems to have been filmed on the influence campsite site.
The spokesman also said the video was “intended to emphasize these valuable Mayan sites in Mexico” and that “it’s a pity that this has become a political issue – we hope that it can lead to productive dialogue and encourage people to visit these unique historical treasures.”
Mexico President Claudia Shainbaum on Wednesday called for an investigation into the conditions under which the capture permit was granted.
In the inscription on the video, Mrbeast – whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson – thank you to Mexican tourism and government authorities for a permit to shoot on the sites while including links to his chocolate product.
The video shows him and his team, which explores limited access areas in Mayan cities Kalakmul and Chichen Itza. At one point, he says, “I can’t believe the government allows us to do this.”
They have also been shown to appear to descend into a helicopter pyramid, and in another scene are shown, handling an ancient prep, mask.
But the inheritance authorities said these were “false allegations” and accused YouTuber of presenting misinformation. Ina said that Mrbeast had never conducted a true pre-Spanish mask and seemed to have had extensive editing after manufacturing in the video-scene of the helicopter.
“All these are false statements that obey the theatricality of the YouTuber in question,” Monday said on Monday.
Mexico Claudia Culture Secretary Couriel De and said on Thursday that although they allowed MrBeast’s permission to shoot, they had never authorized the publication of incorrect information or the use of images on a trademark inheritance site.
“We do not approve of any trade pursuit that distorts the value of archeological sites, which are a legacy of our local cultures and the pride of our nation,” she said.
She added that although Mexico was open to content that contributes to the “knowledge and spread of Mexico’s archaeological and cultural heritage”, he was firmly against those who “benefit from the desire of the institutions.”
She said Ina will examine “administrative sanctions” against the production company Full Circle Media, to whom the shooting was issued. The BBC has sought a comment from the company.
Mrbeast, called the King of YouTube, is the most suitable for a person on the platform, with 395 million followers. His video of the Mayan pyramids was published on May 10.
