The Gospel Christian and former Current Leader Mike Hukabi has been confirmed as the new US ambassador to Israel.

The former governor of Arkansas has long been a fiery supporter of Israel. He categorically supports the Jewish settlements in the Palestinian territories, which are considered illegal under international law – although Israel rejects this.

“This is a great day for the Israeli-American alliance,” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, joining other members of his government when noting the result of a vote on Wednesday.

The Senate supported Hakabi 53 to 46, largely on party lines, with just one Democrat, John Ferterman, supporting him.

However, many Democrats are critical of his previous statements about the ongoing war in Gaza.

Democratic Senator Jerry Duller said last month that Huckabee was “terribly unfit” for the role.

The Obller also accused him of participating in the “brazen denial of the existence of the Palestinian people”, citing a 2017 press conference, where Huckabee said “there is no such thing as a Palestinian.”

Huckabee holds his post at a time when there are few signs of an agreement for a new termination of fire in the gas and the return of the other hostages.

He also often expresses his support for annexing the occupied West Bank, with Israel ending politicians calling for Israeli sovereignty this year to be expanded there.

But during his interrogation by the Senate Committee, he tried to play some of his previous statements, stating that he would “perform the priorities of the President” and not his, and his, and He denied supporting the expulsion of the Palestinians.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said the appointment of Hakabi would “strengthen the unprecedented connection between our nations” after a telephone call between the two.

Israel’s Prime Minister also shared his congratulations, describing Huckabee as “Dear Friend” in an X.

Netanyahu just returned from Washington, where he stood to US President Donald Trump while he said to the world that he had direct conversations with Iran, Israel’s chief opponent – and praised Turkish President Erdogan – whom Israel considers a potential threat in the processing of Syria.

As he spoke on Wednesday, Trump said Huckabi would be “fantastic” in his new role.

“He will bring the bacon home,” he said from the Oval Cabinet, “although Bacon is not too big in Israel. I had to clear that.”
