A New York judge has announced abuse of rape charges in Harvey Weinstein’s sexual crimes process after a juror refused to continue discussions over a 2013 assaulted attack by actress Jessica Mann.
The jurors had found Weinsstein guilty of a census of sexual assault and was not guilty of another issue on Wednesday, but continued to discuss a final accusation of rape.
The mystial on Thursday comes after a wicker sentence for sexual crimes in Weinstein in the country was canceled last year, which led to new accusations last September.
A panel of seven women and five male jurors discussed for six days in the six -week process before a juror refuses to continue the discussions.
The advice of jurors in the process was struck by tension. The republicration of jurors has sparked the judge’s fears earlier this week, saying that jurors are “attacking” one another and trying to change their opinion.
On Wednesday, he brought more complaints to the judge, pointing out that “at least another juror made comments as a result of” We will meet you outside a day “and there he shouts and yells,” Judge Curtis Farber told the court.
On Thursday, the previous man stated that he would not return to the jurors’ room to deliberately because he was afraid of others screaming at him, so the judge declared abuse of the last charge of rape.
“Sometimes the discussions of the jurors become heated. I understand that this specific discussion was more necessary than some others,” Judge Farber told jurors from 12 people, according to US media.
In a statement, a Winsstein spokesman said his team believed that the sentence would be “quarreled” by a “gross violation of jurors”.
“For 8 years, dozens of prosecutors, three court processes, one sentence,” said spokesman Judas Engelmayer. “Harvey is disappointed with the single sentence, but there is no loss of faith or the heart to continue to fight to clear his name.”
The Court of Appeal overturned Weinstein’s previous sentence of sexual crimes in New York last April, finding that the 73-year-old did not receive a fair trial in 2020, as a judge authorized the testimony of women who were charging him beyond the charges.
The process in 2025 was based on the testimony of three women – the former assistant -television production Miriam Haley, actress Jessica Mann and the Polish model Kaja Sokola. All three accused Weinstein of using his power in the entertainment industry to sexually abuse them. D -Ja Haley and Da -Man testified in the first trial against Weinstein when he was found guilty.
This time, the jury found Weinsstein guilty of sexual assault on Da -Haley, but justified him for an attack on Da Sokola. The trowel was declared a rape charge, submitted by the dn -Man Man.
In a statement, Man Man said that “he will never give up himself and make sure my voice – and the truth – is heard.”
“I told the District Attorney that I was ready, I wish and capable of maintaining as many times as necessary to serve justice and accountability,” she said. “Today is not the end of my battle.”
The last sentence is in addition to a 16-year sentence that Weinstein has not yet served after being convicted of sexual crimes in Los Angeles.
The jury’s advice turned out to be tense last week when a jury said that others were “avoiding” one member of the panel, calling it “things for a playground.”
The fence also claims that the jurors are considering Weinsstein’s past and other allegations outside the sphere of decision -making.
This made the judge instruct the jurors only to consider the allegations of the case and nothing else.
Weinstein – who has cancer and diabetes – stayed at Bellevue Hospital, not at the prison on Ricker Island during the test. He was sitting in a wheelchair for production.
A total of Weinstein has been accused of sexual disorders, attacks and rape of more than 100 women. Although not all reports have led to criminal charges, California’s sentence means that he is likely to spend the rest of his life in prison.
Weinstein and his brother Bob were among the biggest figures in Hollywood, founding the Miramax movie studio, whose hits included Shakespeare in love, which won an Oscar for the best picture and pulp fiction.
