The outbound state MP has sparked a scene in the Parliament of Western Australia after he finished his valence speech with shoes – the act of a festive drink, usually alcohol, outside the shoe.

Kyle McGin put an end to his farewell address by leaving a beer and drank it from his removed shoe, which he says he has become famous for his voters.

McGin told the local media that he had done it to show that there were normal people in parliament and to celebrate in their own way.
