Elon Musk said he would redirect an employee of his newly formed Ministry of Government Efficiency (DOG), who resigned after being linked to a racist social media account.
“He will be returned,” published Musk on the X, the social media platform he possesses. “To sin is a person, to forgive divine.”
Media messages tied Marco Elez, a 25-year-old, who had previously worked for Musk’s SpaceX Company, with an already deleted social media account, which posted the ignition comments.
Vice President JD Vance had said earlier in the day that the young employee should get a second chance.
The mixed account associated with G -n Elez – for the first time, reported by Wall Street Journal – publishes various inflammatory comments that were checked by the BBC as authentic.
“Just for the protocol, I was a racist before it was cool,” read a publication from the nickname account in July.
Another post in September said, “You can’t pay me to get married outside my ethnic group.”
“Normalize Indian hatred,” another post said this month.
All publications have since been deleted.
On Friday, President Donald Trump, when asked by Mr Elez’s resignation from Dog and Vance’s support for the employee, said he did not know about “this particular thing,” but agreed with the Vice President of the matter.
Writing to X, Vance said that until he agreed “with some of Essa’s publications … I don’t think the stupid activity on social media should ruin the life of the child.”
Earlier during the day, Musk posted an X poll, inviting users to say if the staff member should be returned.
At least 78% voted in favor of returning to hundreds of thousands who participated, according to the results shown below.
In response to a user who said that Musk should talk to G -n Eles “about racist things. It’s not cool, “the billionaire replied,” True. “
Mr. Essa’s resignation comes against the background of Doge’s increasing control, the government consultative group to reduce costs created by Trump.
On Thursday, an American referee reached an obstacle to one of these initiatives, suspending a plan to offer stimuli to millions of federal workers who voluntarily resign this month.
Musk supported the efforts to dismantle USAID, the government agency responsible for international development.
All, except a handful of main staff – a workforce of about 10,000 people – must be put on administrative leave at midnight on Friday, including thousands based abroad.
