A federal judge has constantly rejected the criminal case against New York Mayor Eric Adams, weeks after the Trump administration instructed prosecutors to refuse corruption allegations.

This move has led to the resignation of the best federal prosecutor of Manhattan, who accused Adams of concluding a deal with the Trump administration to reject his case in exchange for immigration.

The Judge in Manhattan has rejected the “prejudice” case, which means that the Ministry of Justice cannot resurrect the accusations against Adams on the basis of the same evidence.

Adams has been accused of conspiracy, fraud, attracting illegal campaign contributions and bribery. He had denied any misconduct.

In an indictment last September, Adams said he had accepted gifts with a total value of over $ 100,000 (£ 75,000) by Turkish citizens in exchange for services.

In a decision on Wednesday, US District Judge Dale Ho stated that the Ministry of Justice did not object to a proposal from Adams, which seeks the constant rejection of the case.

Judge Ho stated that he rejects the case permanently because allowing federal prosecutors to revive the case in the future will “create the inevitable perception that freedom of the mayor depends on his ability to prioritize the implementation of the immigration of the administration and that he may be more delicate to the requests of the federal government

In February, the post of Deputy Prosecutor General Emil Bove ordered the New York Prosecutor’s Office to refuse the case against Adams, arguing that he “restricts” the mayor’s ability to deal with “illegal immigration and violent crime” – a key purpose of the Trump administration.

But the former senior prosecutor of Manhattan, Daniel Sasson, refused to do so.

She claims in a letter to the boss of Boww, Prosecutor General Pam Bondi that the mayor’s team has proposed “what is Quid Pro Quo,” saying Adams will be able to help administrative policies “only if the prosecution is rejected.”

Sassoon and six other other justice officials resigned because of the dispute, stating that there is no legal justification for the rejection of Adams’s case.

Following the decision, Alex Spiro, Mayor Adams’ lawyer, said the case “never had to be brought first”. “From day one, the mayor maintains his innocence, and now justice for Eric Adams and New Yorkers has prevailed.”
