North Korea’s move seems a positive reaction to the overtures of the newly elected South Korean President Lee Jun, who was a campaign to improve intercorean ties.
South Korea dismantled some of its own speakers this week. He had stopped broadcasts on the demilitarized zone, shortly after Lee took office in June – which caused a similar response from his neighbor.
South Korean broadcasts had often presented K-POP songs and news reports, while the northern game of restless noises, such as dizziness.
In a statement on Saturday, the military in South Korea said it “discovered North Korean troops, dismantling propaganda speakers in some parts of the front line this morning.”
He added: “It remains to be confirmed if the devices have been removed in all regions and the military will continue to monitor related activities.”
The speaker shows were stopped in previous cases. But after a six -year pause, they resumed in June 2024 in response to Pyongyang’s campaign to send balloons filled with junk to the south.
Residents living along the border complain that their lives have been sunk by a noise coming from both sides, sometimes in the middle of the night.
Seoul claims that radiation can be heard up to 10 km (six miles) across the day and up to 24 km (15 miles) at night.
But talking, after South Korea terminated its shows in June, organizations advocated to improve the human rights of the North Koreans criticized the move.
