Sheriff’s Sheriff’s Deschutes SheriffOne person died and two people remain disappeared after a group of six people were swept over a waterfall in Oregon on Saturday afternoon, a local sheriff office reported.
The Sheriff of the Deshuts County Sheriff said he saved three people from the Desshuts River, who were transported to the hospital while another person was declared dead at the scene.
The emergency persons used drones to seek survivors near Dylan Falls after receiving an emergency call in the afternoon and planned to resume search efforts on Sunday after pausing overnight.
Dillon Falls has a 15-foot (4.5-meter) decline, which turns into a “fast-paced, stepped model,” according to Visit Central Oregon.
The falls over the Desshuutes River are near the city of Band in the National Forest Deshules, a popular place for visitors.
Every summer, thousands of people boat, kayak, or swim on the internal pipes of the river, which are proud of areas with white water, as well as fishing for trout and salmon.
Local firefighters and police responded to 911 calls around 3:00 pm (21:00 BST)
Officials have not yet indicated the victims so that they can notify family members before.
