OpenAI’s marketing head takes leave to undergo breast cancer treatment

Kate Rouch, the head of the opeina marketing, has announced that she has been turning away from her role for three months while treating aggressive breast cancer.

A LinkedIn postRouch says that former CMO Gary Briggs will serve as the interim head of marketing during his holiday.

“Early this year – only a few weeks of my dream work – I was suffering from aggressive breast cancer,” Rouch wrote. “Over the past five months, I am going to chemo at UCSF while I lead our marketing team. It was the hardest season in my life – for me, my husband and our two young children.”

Rouch says that his pregnosis is “great” and he is expected to recover the whole.

“1 out of 8 women will be infected with breast cancer,” she wrote in her post. “Every year 12.5 dies. The rate for young women is increasing. I am sharing my story […] To attract their attention and encourage them to prioritize their health in demanding family and work. A routine test saved my life. It can save you too. “

Rouch, who had previously worked with Meta Briggs, joined the Open in December. He was previously a CMO of Coinbase, and was earlier led by brand and product marketing for platforms including Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and Facebook.
