Tens of thousands of campers arrived at Tomorrowland in Belgium, a day after a fire destroyed the main scene of the festival.
The organizers of the festival have insisted that the event in Boom, south of Antwerp, will continue without the stage and adds that they are “focused on finding solutions.”
No one was injured in the flame on Wednesday night and experts work to determine a cause.
The Electronic Dance Music Festival should start on Friday, with 400,000 expected to attend two weekends.
Hundreds of artists are expected to perform, including David Goeta, lost frequencies, Swedish House Mafia and Charlotte de Vit.
The local fire service has declared the site safe and it will now be decided whether to demolish the structure before the festival starts on Friday.
The campsite, known as Dreamville, opened and organizers have so far said that the event this weekend will continue.
In her last Instagram post on Thursday, Tomorrowland said, “It’s impossible to put in words what we feel.”
He added that the main scene of Orbiz “It was not just a scene … It was a living breathing world.”
The organizers said they worked at night to come up with solutions. A meeting with safety experts and local government members was held on Thursday morning to discuss an emergency action plan.
The mayor of Rumst, right north of Boom, told the local media that another meeting, discussing more ideas about an alternative on the main stage, will be held in the afternoon.
“The cancellation of the festival is completely the last thing we want to do,” said Jurgen Calaerts.
There are 14 other stages at the festival, all much smaller than the main stage.
Further details are expected to be released later on Thursday.
Ghetto imagesThe fire started around 6:00 pm local time (16:00 GMT) on Wednesday. Videos, posted on social media, showed a thick gray smoke that absorbs the scene.
Some residents were evacuated as firefighters worked to stop the flames from reaching neighboring homes and forest.
A police helicopter carrying water was also unfolded to help extinguish the fire.
An employee who worked on the site described the “apocalyptic scene” when the fire broke out.
“Suddenly we heard the bangs and saw a fire near the stage, a huge amount of fire,” the unnamed individual told the Het Nieuwsblad newspaper.
“We just put the final strokes. Another day and it would end. Four weeks of work … It disappeared in half an hour.”
Tomorrowland began in 2005 and has become the largest e -dance festival in the world, attracting music fans from every continent.
