Ozzy Osbourne, one of the most recognizable and influential musicians in rock, died at the age of 76.

As a frontman of Black Sabbath, the Birmingham -born musician was credited for inventing heavy metal, thanks to songs like Iron Man and Paranoid.

Less than three weeks ago, the self-styled “Prince of Darkness” performed goodbye in his hometown, supported by many of the musicians he inspired, including Metallica and Guns ‘N’ Roses.

In a statement, his family says, “With greater sadness than just words, they can tell that we have to announce that our beloved Ozzy Osburn died this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”

Born John Michael Osborne, he dropped out of school at the age of 15, holding several low -paid jobs and spent a short spell in the burglary prison before starting his music career.

After singing with several local groups, he joined the Black Sabbath with guitarist Tony Iommi, the bassist Geezer Butler and the drummer Bill Ward in the late 1960s.

They have developed a unique sound, inspired by the blue, but more slow, stronger and more delicate -with frequent references to the occult.

Considered to be Heavy Metal pioneers, they released their album of the same name in 1970 and followed it with Platinum Records such as Paranoid and Master of Reality for the rest of the decade.

Filled by the band in 1978, he launched a successful solo career with the 1980 album Blizzard of Ozz, representing the classic single crazy train.

The next year, the madman was even more popular, selling more than five million copies.

Along the way, Osborne develops a reputation of his casual live performances, an example of (probably the apocryphal) story that he once bitten his head from a bat during a concert, mistakenly thinking that it was a toy thrown on stage by a fan.

His drink and drugs were legendary, which led to some unusual behavior. The Motley Crue rock band once described how Osborne, in a race, to see whose habits are the most distinguished, snorted a line of ants from the hotel floor.

But in the 1990s, his wild image was transformed thanks to the reality show of MTV the Osbournes – which represents the star as a well -intentioned, often downplayed the patriarch of an uneducated household.

The show also made the stars of his wife, manager Sharon Osborne and daughter Kelly, with whom he duets on a ranking for the embodiment of the version of the changes in the song on Saturday, reaching number one in 2003.

The same year, however, he received a spine injury in 2003 after a crash involving a vehicle on the terrain or ATV.

The injury was exacerbated from a late night in 2019, which required several rounds of extensive operation.

In 2020, the star revealed that he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and largely retreated from the tour after playing the community game closure ceremony in 2022.

However, he was determined to make the last appearance by bowing to a concert last month at the Birmingham Villa Park – throwing a stone from his home in Aston childhood.

The musician sang as he sat on a black throne, clapping, waving his arms and pulling glances with wild eyes as he was performing hits, including a crazy train, a crowley and military pigs

He looked clumsy at some points. “You have no idea how I feel. Thank you from my heart,” he told the audience – and almost six million more people who have set up for the live stream.

Speaking on stage, Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo said that the artists on the account “All will be different people” without Osborne and Black Saturday.

“This is the truth. I wouldn’t be here with this microphone in my hand without Black Saturday. The biggest of all time.”
