ReutersAbandoned bombing plans were found in the home of suspected weapons in a school shooting in Austria, police said.
Police in the city of Graz also found a dysfunctional pipe bomb and a goodbye letter and video during the search, they said in a statement.
Ten people were killed in a high school attack on Tuesday – the most deadly in the country’s recent history.
The suspect, a 21-year-old former student at the school, took his life in a school bath shortly after the attack, according to police. Authorities have not yet drawn any conclusions about the possible motive of the gunman.
The incident, which left 11 more, took place at Dreierschützengasse Secondary School in the northwestern part of the city.
Six women and three men were killed in the attack, and later a seventh woman died in hospital.
A teacher and nine students between the ages of 14 and 17 are among the victims, police said. One of the victims was a Polish citizen, while the other nine were Austrian citizens.
Three days of mourning were announced in Austria after the attack and Wednesday on Wednesday at 10:00 local time, silence was held throughout the country (08:00 GMT) in memory of the victims. The Austrian flag has been reduced to the half-man of all public buildings.
After a minute’s silence on Graz’s main square, a woman, Torres, told BBC News that she knew one of the boys who died. He was 17.
“I have known this family for a long time, including the son of the family, and I knew he was attending this school. I called immediately to ask if everything was fine. Then they informed me at noon that the boy was one of those who were killed,” she said.
Police said the suspect was born in Styria and lived with his lonely mother, who is also Austrian, in the Graz-Mitebung area.
They added that his father of Armenian origin did not live with them after the separation of his parents.
This information suggests that the shooter legally owned the two guns used in the attack – a gun and a rifle – and had a firearm license, police said.
The Sagittarius, who has not yet been named, has not graduated from the school, Interior Minister Gerhard Carner told a press conference on Tuesday.
Police also confirmed that the gunman was not known to police before the attack.
They have increased security measures around schools in the city.
