Writers are said to be their oldest critics -but for the person who can become the next President of Poland, nothing can be more than the truth.

Carol Naroki was widely ridiculed after it emerged that several years ago he had a cover to praise his own book on television.

Written by a mysterious author called Tadeusz Batyr, the book documents the life of a gangster of communist Poland from the 80s.

But now it has been revealed that Tadeus Batir is a nickname created by Mr. Naroki, a historian and former director of the museum, which is supported by the Right Party of Law and Justice (PIS) in the upcoming presidential election.

In 2018, the Navy appeared on television, as his alter-ego Tadez Batir, concealed in a hat and blurry face, and praised praise of himself: “This historian (Carol Navy) actually inspired me …” says the blurred figure, “He is the first person to study organized crime in the communist.

Even more viable for the presidential candidate, a publication on social media appeared, in which he claimed to have met with the author: “I spent a few years studying organized crime … So Tadeus Batir contacted me for some guidance,” says the publication, which he still apparently.

The scandal has led to a storm of mockery in the Polish social media, with consumers wondering if it will be Tadeusz Batyr or Karol Nawrocki Campainting in the presidential election.

If G -n navrocki is concerned about the impact of his fraud on the election, he did not show him when he was asked to comment on his obvious divided personality: “Literary aliases are nothing new in the Polish academic circles,” he said, I was a historian.

According to the Polish magazine Newsweek, Nawrocki’s “charm” with the underworld is well known. Local media reports that the historian is familiar with several figures related to organized crime and biker bands in Poland. G -n Nawrocki says all interactions are strictly professional.

Currently, Nawrocki is second in the presidential race behind Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskovski, who is from the Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s liberal civic coalition party. Third – a far -right candidate Slawomir Mentzen, who recently watched a leap of popularity. His Confederation Party advocates for super-low taxes, stopping what he calls “left-wing ideology” and cessation of immigration.

The results of these elections could also have echoes far beyond Warsaw. Poland is a key partner in support of the West for Ukraine. Up to 95% of military aid sent to the country passes through Poland, and here are about 10,000 US troops. Poland shares the boundaries with both Ukraine and Russia and quickly expands its armed forces, promising to spend almost 5% of the GDP of the military this year – the highest in NATO.

PIS supported by Carol has accused the “decisions of the European elites” for the launch of the war in Ukraine. The senior figures in the PIS party, which campaigns for lower taxes and energy security, have accused the EU of intending to intervene in the election.

“These elections are extremely important,” says political analyst Marcin Borovski, “(Tusk ally) Trzaskovsky is the only candidate to be pro -European, Atlantic and supporting Ukraine. It is a continuation of foreign policy.”

And these elections also matter to the poles at home. Better access to abortions, same-sex marriages and the rule of law was promised by Donald Tusk when his coalition came to power in 2023. But President Andrzej Duda, brought in line with PI, has the veto over legislation. That is why so far, Tusk has failed to accept significant reforms.

“The people who voted for (Tusk), especially voters or women for the first time, may be very disappointed,” says Mr. Borrevski, “But if the civil coalition receives a president who supports their program, it will be a real impetus to what this government can do.”

With less than two months before the first round of voting, Civic Coalition’s TRZASKAKOGI is in charge. But with the narrowing of the polls, Carol Naroki has campaign vigorously – eager to convince the voters that he, not the shady Tadez Batir, is their choice for president.
