Pope Francis said he was confronted with a “test period” as he thanked the good faith on Sunday for their prayers.
The Argentine hinges are recovered to a hospital from pneumonia after being admitted on February 14th.
In today’s message, the 88-year-old refers to biblical passages and prays for peace in “countries injured by war.”
He celebrated the fifth consecutive Sunday, the Pope was not personally present because of his weekly blessing, although the Vatican said earlier this week that an X-ray had confirmed “improvements” in his condition. He has since warned that he still needs hospital treatment.
“The Holy Father still requires hospital medical therapy, motor and respiratory physiotherapy; these therapies are currently showing additional, gradual improvements,” a statement said on Saturday.
The Pope was not publicly observed after his admission to the hospital and no photographs of the religious figure were released.
“I join so many siblings who are sick: fragile, at that time, like me,” the Pope says in his statement today.
“Let’s continue to pray for peace, especially in the countries wounded by war: Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, Myanmar, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo are tormented.”
After arriving at the Gemeli Hospital in Rome, the Pope was treated with double pneumonia and other infections.
He has also undergone several respiratory crises that have caused fears about his survival.
Earlier this month, an audio record of Pope Francis, who speaks his native Spanish, is played at St. Peter Square in the Vatican City.
His voice was breathless when he thanked the Catholic versions for their prayers.
Francis, born Jorge Mario Bergolia, is the first pope in America.
He encountered pleurisy as a young man and had a partial removal of the lungs, which left him particularly vulnerable to pneumonia.
As a result of his long load until recovery, there is speculation that Pope Francis can choose to follow his predecessor Benedict XVI and resign the papacy.
But friends and biographers close to the Pope insisted that he had no plans to withdraw. And despite his fragile health, the pontiff continues his work from the hospital.
This year, 2025, it is a Catholic holy year, with 32 million pilgrims expected to travel to Rome.
