For 18 months, Rivian and Google Engineers have worked together. Today, they are showing their work.
Rivian is pressing a software update that will bring a unique version of Google Map to its EVS. This is the latest step in the continued effort to separate its vehicles with software – this is an attempt that has helped to hit a joint venture with the world’s largest automaker Volkswagen.
It is not common in Google Maps integration and is against other cooperation of the technology agency in the automotive sector. For years, Google Bilt-in, also known as Google Android Auto, as well as Google Built-in, an Android Automotive Operating System that integrate Google Services directly into the car and uses itomers like Volvo.
Not even cooperation with the Rivians. Instead, Rivian customers who use in-car will no longer see the mapbox-based maps. Now, they will see the Google map, but according to the Riviens Chief of Software Wasim Benside, there are a lot of Rivian DNA sprinkling at the top, including the trip planner, user interface and design and EV charger location.
“We obviously look at the customer’s response closely, and I think that one of the fields we had criticized was navigation,” said Bensoid. The company may try to improve its existing cars increasingly. Instead, it starts working with Google to launch a new product.
Revion’s Challenge: This is not just the default Google Maps app.
“Google really wanted to embrace a new model of cooperation with the API level for Google Maps, and to integrate both of its solutions, a technology partner needs to work with, and I think we are really happy with the outcome of this cooperation,” he said.
The new map feature will include the approximate time of arrival from Google Maps, traffic updates, space -related information and satellite images, all of which are integrated into the revion’s navigation system. In-car navigation will also include interest in interest.
It is very important to carry the Rivian trip planner because it shows the EV -ranges estimate and charging stop selection, driven by all A good route plannerThe Like other review features, its “arrival,” charging stops and the charging score of the EV-maker, which gives a rating for individual charging sites based on the plug-in data from the Rivian vehicle, is also folded on Google maps.
The new Google-based maps will start roll out today with a software update on the Rivian Vehicle and its mobile app.
The updated Rivian Mobile App will also include additional trip plan features. Rivian said that it adds space photos, space descriptions and satellite view (with a connection+ subscription), as well as the ability to view traffic and traffic events in the app. Users can share destinations and trips in their vehicle from the Rivian mobile app.
