Rocket lab The regulators have sought permission to transport large -scale neutron rocket structures on a spaceport off the coast of Virginia because of the September delivery deadline. The request made in July is a temporary stop gap, while the company is waiting for a federal exemption to dredge the permanent channel on the site of Wallops Island.
Rocket Lab Virginia has planned to launch its neutron medium-lift rocket from Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport (Mangal) on Walls Island, a lower traffic spaceport that is surrounded by shallow channels and waterways. The company currently launches its electronic small rocket from this location.
In the rocket lab, neutron has a huge checklist for ticket-offs before its orbit, such as being associated with rocket level, rehearsing a “wet clothing” and getting its launch license from the Federal Aviation Administration.
The rocket hardware needs to be made on the island before any of it happens.
The Rocket Lab submitted an application for the Dredging Project to the Virginia Marine Resource Commission in March. In its application, the company emphasized the benefits of Mars, florida and other launch facilities elsewhere, which is highly trafficked, which can limit launch cadens. On the contrary, Mars will “frequent launch cadens and boosters recovery both return-to-money capacity will allow both power,” the rocket lab said at the time.

The rocket lab has given several million poured on the site of Mars to ensure that he is ready to support regular neutron launches. The dredging project was approved by VMRC in May, but the company has not yet started excavating because it is still waiting for the federal sign-off from the Army Corps of Engineers.

The company says they plan to launch the Maiden Test mission of Neutron in the second half of 2021. However, it is advisable for the dredging application and separate casing request of the rocket lab that it is not a hardware delay, but marine access which can be a barrier to the first launch.
Casing, a little familiar nautical method, barge is used to ensure that the existing shallow channel can navigate safely. The company is seeking permission to use this method until the end of June 2026 or until the dredging work is done, which comes first.
It is unclear how long the dredging project will take.
