Russian air strike in a prison in a first line region in southeastern Ukraine has killed 17 people and wounded 42 Others, according to Ukrainian officers.
The attack overnight in the attachment also damaged the surrounding homes, said regional leader Ivan Fedorov. The Russian forces started eight strokes using high explosive air sliding bombs, he added.
Ukrainian President Chief of Staff Andri Jermak has condemned the strikes as a “successive war crime” committed by Russia.
The attachment is one of the four Eastern regions in Ukraine, which Russia claims to have been annexed since 2022, although the region is largely under Ukrainian control.
The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine said that four bombs had hit Bilenke’s penitentiary, destroying the dining room, administrative headquarters and quarantine zone and that all killed and injured were prisoners.
Russian forces have often been targeted at the hindness since the beginning of the full -scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
The Ukrainian Human Rights Commissioner said attacking a prison is a gross violation of humanitarian law, since people in detention do not lose their right to life and protection.
US President Donald Trump has released a great Moscow ultimatum on Monday, warning that Russia has “about 10 or 12 days” to agree to the cessation of the fire or to confront the metatures. Speaking during a visit to Scotland, Trump told reporters that he would “announce that probably tonight or tomorrow”, adding, “There is no reason to wait if you know what the answer is.”
Earlier in July, Trump set a 50-day deadline for the Kremlin to reach a truce with Kiev or risk economic penalties, but the warning did not stop Russia’s shed for strikes.
There were additional casualties in a rocket attack and drones late on Monday in the Denpropetrovsk region in Eastern Ukraine.
A strike on the industrial city of Camiianke left two people killed and five injured, according to regional leader Sergius Lisak.
Another person was killed and several injured in the Sinelikivski area while a 75-year-old woman was killed and a 68-year-old man was injured when their home was hit in a village late on Monday.
The wave of attacks came when Russia focused deeper in Ukrainian territory in Denipropetrovsk.
Over the weekend, Moscow said his forces had taken over the village of Maliaevka, weeks after taking their first village in the region. Ukraine rejected Russia’s claims.
In the meantime, employees said that Ukraine had fired dozens of drones overnight in the South Rostov area, killing one man in his car in the city of Salsk and setting fire to a train.
Another person was reported to have been killed in their car in the Belgorod border region and his wife was injured.
