Ghetto imagesInvestigators are investigating whether the foggy conditions and the technical problems of the San Diego Airport, which cut off lights that aim to run the pilots, may have played a role in a fatal plane crash.
A Cessna 550 crashed early Thursday in a residential neighborhood, burning cars and destroying at least one home.
Authorities say all six on board are considered dead, including a former drummer for the rock band The Devil Wears Prada and a high -profile music agent.
The National Transport Safety Council is considering a mix of clues and stated that the aircraft does not have a record recorder for the flight that would provide more information. Officials have not yet determined what factors have led to the crash.
At a press conference on Friday, NTSB investigator Dan Baker said the Agency was receiving help from the FBI as he was working to collect and preserve evidence from the scene.
He said the investigators found that the plane had hit high -voltage power lines before colliding into homes in the Murphy Canyon neighborhood, about two miles from the Montgomery Airport – where the aircraft headed.
The airport, a small regional airport with three tracks, is experiencing two separate issues during the crash, said G -N Baker. The automated surface monitoring station that provides data for pilot time was “inoperative during the accident due to an unrelated power leap”.
At that time, the foggy conditions were reported throughout the area.
Baker attributes the interruption of a “technical problem”, but warned that it was not clear if it had contributed to the crash, as not all airports were equipped with this system.
The airport had also submitted a notice to the pilots called Notam, informing them that one of the slopes had experienced a problem with the lighting system that led the landing aircraft.
The pilot of the Downloaded Airplane headed for this track when the crash took place, said G -N -Baker.
The pilot does not report air control problems and has never announced an emergency, G -N -Baker said.
Cessna was not equipped with a flight recorder and officials are investigating whether he may have had on board the voice recorder of the cockpit.
The crash happened around 3:45 local time (10:45 GMT) and about 100 people had to be evacuated from the neighborhood, which is exactly northeast of San Diego.
Eight people on the ground were injured, including one who was taken to hospital.
A preliminary report from NTSB is expected to be published within 30 days as a final report in the next 12 to 24 months.
The names of four of the six people on board the flight, when it collapsed, have been released so far.
The 25 -year -old Emma Huk and the 24 -year -old Kendall Fortner were listed as on the plane by their employer, Sound Talent Group.
Fortner “was the life of the party and lit every room he entered,” a statement said on Friday.
Huk was “a beautiful soul that brought joy and light to everyone in its presence.”
The company had previously confirmed the death of its co-founder, a prominent music agent Dave Shapiro. Shapiro has worked with rock bands, including Sum 41, Story of the Year, Parkway Drive and singer Vanessa Carlton.
He was also an avid pilot and a certified instructor for flights with 15 years of experience, according to his aviation at Aviation Aviation Company.
The former devil wore Prada drummer Daniel Williams was also killed in the crash, the members of the group confirmed in stands published online.
In the classes before the crash, he posted images on Instagram of himself and Shapiro sitting in the pilot cab of the aircraft, according to San Diego Union-Tribune.
Williams has been the founder of Devil Wears Prada and part of the Christian Metal Band for more than 10 years before split in 2016.
The group posted a series of Williams photos on Instagram, showing him with drums flying on plane and different moments with fellow roommates.
“No words. We owe you everything,” the post says. “I love you forever.”
