‘Something is Killing the Children’ is Getting Film & TV Adaptations

Do not send your children to camp: killing some children, Boom’s long-running horror comic from James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera, getting two adaptations.

you can remember Netflix was going Adapt the comicBut now Blumhouse is in charge, and it’s taking a two-pronged approach with a live-action feature film and an adult animated TV series. Both Tynion and Dell’Edera will executive produce the show, while Tynion will EP the film alongside Boom’s president of development Stephen Christie. Dell’Adera will also co-produce the film, as will Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum.

“Finding a partner who understood the potential of Erica Slaughter and the world that Werther Dell’Adera and I had created was crucial, and we found that partner in Jason Bloom,” says Tynion. “No one understands fear better than Blumhouse, and I can’t wait for the world to see what we have planned together.”

“It’s easy to see why audiences and critics alike have praised it killing some children,Bloom added “James and Werther’s comic book series taps into our most primal fears, lures us into a fascinating world and introduces Erica Slaughter, the ass-kicking hero we all want to fight the monsters lurking in the dark.”

First published in 2019, the comic centers on Erica Slaughter, who travels the country killing monsters who kidnap and kill children, and has the ability to see the monsters well after she grows up. The series has been a hit since its initial release and has won several comic awards over the years for Tynion’s writing. Its final issue was published this past February, but it includes several spinoff books Fall of the Slaughterhouse and crossover miniseries Swamp Thing is Killing the Children, Both of which are releasing in 2026.
