South Africa criticizes the United States as reports appear that suggest that Washington may receive white Africa as refugees next week.
A document seen by the BBC partner partner describes potential resettlement as a “priority” for President Donald Trump’s government, but time has not been publicly confirmed by the White House.
In a statement published on FridayThe South Africa Foreign Ministry described the estimated move as “politically motivated” and intended to undermine the “constitutional democracy” of South Africa.
In February, Trump identified Africa as victims of “racial discrimination” in an executive order, opening the prospect of crossing the United States.
The South African authorities said they would not block the departure of the resettlement, but said they had sought assurances from the United States that the elected were completely checked and did not have pending criminal charges.
The statement in South Africa is added that allegations of discrimination against the country’s white minority are unfounded and that crime statistics do not show that a racial group has been aimed at violent crimes on farms.
Some groups representing the rights of white farmers said they were deliberately killed for their race.
A spokesman for the US State Department told the BBC that they were interviewing persons interested in resettance in the US and prioritized “Africa in South Africa, who victims of unjust racial discrimination” but will not confirm when re -session will start.
The Trump administration has also accused South Africa of seizing land by white farmers without compensation, something that Pretoria has repeatedly refused.
US officials have planned a press conference on Monday at Dulles Airport in Virginia to meet the group, the documents seen by the CBS show.
