Southern Mexico bus crash kills 41, authorities say

At least 41 people were killed in an incident by bus in southern Mexico, the Tabasco government said.

The images show that the bus is completely burned after it was swallowed up by the flames after the collision that happened in the early hours of Saturday morning near the small town of Escarcega.

Acosta on the bus operator Tour said 48 passengers were aboard the vehicle – which traveled from Cancun to Tabasco – when it was confronted with a trailer.

Tour’s Acosta added that “deeply regrets the incident” and said it was working with the authorities to understand the cause, adding that the bus was traveling within speed.

Reuters reported that the Tabasco government government said in a statement that 41 people had been killed and the recovery work is still ongoing.

“The public ministry informs us that the investigation will enter into force in the prosecutor’s office of Candelarya Municipality, Campeche, for this reason the relatives of our passengers and friends will have to go to this department to perform the relevant procedures,” Tour’s Acosta said on Facebook S

Tabasco’s government state said the recovery work continues – including efforts to identify the killed.

Authorities will update with details about the number of victims and their identities later on Saturday, said Tabasco Ramiro Lopez government secretary.

The local council Palacio Municipal de Komalalko said it would support the transfer of the victims’ bodies during the passenger bus incident.
