Sudan has shortened diplomatic ties with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after repeatedly blaming the bay nation in support of rival forces for rapid support (RSF) in the country’s civil war.

The announcement came when the RSF was charged with attacks on the usually safe city of Port Sudan, which began on Sunday and continued until Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Sudan Yasin Ibrahim’s Defense Minister accused the UAE of breaching his country’s sovereignty through his “proxy”, RSF.

The UAE has repeatedly denied the allegations that it provides financial, military and political support to the paramilitary forces.

Two years of conflict killed thousands, forced millions of their homes and created the world’s ugliest humanitarian crisis.

As a result of the statement by the Minister of Defense, the Sudanese ambassador will be withdrawn from the UAE and Sudan will close his diplomatic missions in the nation in the Persian Gulf.

Sunday, drone strikes have hit an international airport, a major power plant and a hotel in Port Sudan. The army has accused the RSF of being behind the attack, but the paramilitary group is yet to comment.

On Wednesday, the Sudanese army said it had ran a strike on the largest naval base in the country.

“They (drones) were greeted with air missiles,” an unnamed source told AFP news agency.

So far, Port Sudan had avoided the bombing and was considered one of the safest places in the war-destroyed nation.

Sudan’s army often accuses the UAE of arming RSF.

Both the United Kingdom and the United States have set aside the UAE in separate appearances to outside countries to stop supporting Sudan’s warring parties.

Monday, however, the best UN court Rejected Sudan’s case against the UAE, in which he accused the state of complicity in the Genocide BayS

The Hague International Court of Justice has ruled that the case cannot continue as the UAE has refused Article 9 of the Genocide Convention, which means that it cannot be tried by other countries for accusations in the genocide.

Reem Ketait, the Deputy Helper -Minister of Political Affairs of the UAE, said the court’s decision was “clear and decisive”.

“The international community must urgently focus on the end of this devastating war and the support of the Sudanese people, and it must require humanitarian aid to reach all those in need,” she said.

Both the army and RSF are charged with war crimes.
