The teaching assistant died after being stabbed by a student outside a school in North, northeastern France, officials say.

The 31-year-old teaching assistant was stabbed on Tuesday morning in front of Francoise Dolto Secondary School, as students’ bags are checked by police, Haute-Marne prefecture reported.

The French media reported that a suspect had been removed, with Prime Minister Francois Bayro said the student was 14 years old.

French President Emmanuel Macron said the teaching assistant was “victim of a meaningless wave of violence” and said “the nation is in mourning.”

Politicians from all countries have condemned the attack and called for more action against crime with a knife.

The suspect was not known before the police and the motive for the attack remains unconfirmed, local media reported.

Bairu and French Education Minister Elizabeth Bourne said the teaching assistant was stabbed by a student.

Bourne said he would travel to a nogen to visit the school, adding “congratulations to the self -control and dedication of those who acted to restrain the attacker.”

Bayrou wrote on social media that “our thoughts come out” the “little boy” of the victim, family, loved ones and the entire educational community.

“The threat of weapons blades among our children has become critical,” Bayro said, adding that “it is up to us to make this widespread scourge in a public enemy.”

Opposition politicians have repelled the government to take more action.

Marine Le Pen, the leader of the far -right national rally (RN), denied what she called “the trivialization of ultraviolia, encouraged by the apathy of public authorities to put an end to it.”

“It’s not a week without a tragedy that hits school,” she wrote in social media.

Jordan Bardela, President of RN, criticizes Macron for what Bardela said was a “denial” of “savagery” by taking advantage of the comments Macron made over the weekend.

Speaking Saturday before the UN Conference on Oceans, Macron had said that “neither the government nor the parliament succumbs to the amenities of the moment,” criticizing those who want to make people forget the struggle for the climate and “prefer to wash their brain people in the meantime.”

There are other recent knife attacks in schools. Last October, a The teacher was killed during a school attack in the northern city of Aras.

After a Piercing at Nantes High School in AprilBayrou called for “strengthening controls introduced around and in schools.”

At the end of April, the Ministry of National Education announced that 94 blades were seized from March at 958 inspections of random bags in schools.

Jean-Remi GiRard, President of the National Union of Secondary Schools, said: “It is impossible to be more vigilant 24 hours a day. We cannot say that every student is a danger or a threat, otherwise we will never get out of bed in the morning.”
