Three people in a French city remain in a “critical but stable condition” after an unusual attack on bees over the weekend, which left 24 passers -by injured, said Aurilak Mayor on Monday.

Twenty-four people were injured and three were taken to a critical hospital when hundreds of bees attacked people in the central south city on Sunday morning.

According to the local media, one of them was a 78-year-old woman who was stung 25 times and had to be resuscitated after cardiophythorial arrest.

Police and firefighters surrounded the area and beekeeper was called to smoke bees – a safe way to soothe insects.

A local man, called Andre, said he witnessed “many panicked people” trying to stop by bees. “I could say that they were attacked by something, but I couldn’t understand what,” he told the French media.

Mayor of Aurilak, Pierre Matonier, was reported that the Asian hornets threatening a hive may have been the catalyst for the attack.

But the Christian carrier, president of the Regional Beekeeping Union, was skeptical.

He told information about France that bees as a whole avoid leaving their colonies in the presence of Asian hornets.

Instead, he said that the unusual incident may be due to the fact that the bee colony became too big because of its hive and became “overactive” when the beekeeper coped with him.

“It may be that (bees) did not have enough space and that their colony did not intend to swarm. This could cause severe aggression,” said a career.
