Brazil’s Supreme Court has ordered former right -wing President Jeir Bolsonaro to be placed under house arrest.

He has a lawsuit because of the allegations that he had drawn a coup, which deniesS

President Donald Trump uses the process of Mr Bolsonaro, who he calls “witch hunting” as an excuse for the imposition of 50% tariffs on some Brazilian goods, although the United States had a trade surplus with Brazil.

The judge responsible for the investigation of G -n Bolsonaro, Alexander de Moraes, said the decision was because he did not comply with limiting orders placed on him last month.

Moraes, which the United States has also sanctioned, said that G -n Bolsonaro used the social networks of its allies, including its sons, to disseminate messages that promote attacks on the Supreme Court and foreign intervention in the Brazilian judicial system.

On Sunday, Pro-Bolsonaro’s rallies were held in various Brazilian cities. One of his sons, Flavio, who is a senator, briefly put his father as a speaker on the crowd in Rio de Janeiro.

It is reported that Flavio also later posts a video, which he deleted afterwards, from his father on the other side of the call sending a message to the supporters.

Moraes also forbade him to receive visits, except for lawyers or people authorized by the Supreme Court, and to use a mobile phone directly or through third parties.

Earlier, he was already ordered to wear an ankle marker, stick to police, not use social media, and not contact his son Eduardo Bolsonaro, who lobbied US officials on his behalf in the United States.

These restrictions were imposed on claiming that he encouraged Donald Trump to interfere with the case.
