The Association, hosting the White House correspondence dinner, canceled its title comedy performance for this year’s event after tensions with the Trump administration.

Comedian Amber Rufin had to perform at the annual dinner next month, but the White House correspondents association announced on Saturday that she had defied her appearance.

In a note to the members, the association said that “the focus of the event is not on division policy”, it is more recent to honor the work of journalists in the White House.

This move comes after the White House attacked the Rufin’s election association as a headliner because of his criticism of US President Donald Trump.

Taylor Budovic, the Deputy Chief of the White House Staff, responded to the Association’s decision to remove Rufin’s performance, saying it was a “cop”.

“There is no accountability in whca, just a cop state – pathetic!” wrote Budovich on Saturday in a post by X.

He continued to criticize Rufin, comedian and writer nominated for Emmy and Tony as “hatred.”

WhCA President Eugene Daniels declared Rufin as a headliner last month, saying she was elected because her “unique talents are the perfect one for this current political and cultural climate”.

Rufin, a NBC late -night writer with Seth Meyars, has been making fun of the Trump administration in recent weeks in his show segments, including his order to rename the Gulf of Mexico in the US Gulf.

The WHCA has been contrary to the Trump administration in recent weeks.

Among other issues, it was the decision to ban the Associated Press from covering certain events and the White House’s decision to directly control the press – a group of journalists who cover the White House and travel with the US president.

It is unclear whether Trump will attend the correspondent dinner this year. Guest entertainment for past nights include John Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Conan O’Brien, Jay Leno and others.
