Denmark Met Frederiksen, Denmark, visited three European capitals on Tuesday after US President Donald Trump repeated his interest in gaining Greenland.

Within a day, Fredericksen met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin, French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris and NATO leader Mark Ruth in Brussels.

Although the leaders are said to have discussed issues, including Ukraine and hybrid Russian attacks in the Baltic Sea, the Danish Vihren Prime Minister has betrayed the nervousness he is experiencing in Denmark because of Trump’s repeated comments.

The Arctic island of Greenland is an autonomous Danish dependent territory.

However, Trump has repeatedly signaled that he wants the United States to acquire it for national security reasons – and refused to exclude the use of military or economic power to do so. “I think we will have it,” he said on Saturday.

Greenland Prime Minister Mute Eggede – who insisted on independence from Denmark – insisted last week that Greenland “” doesn’t want to be an American. ”

At a press conference conducted by Fredericksen and Scholz after their meeting on Tuesday morning, no leader mentions Greenland or Trump directly.

But when he was discussing the need to comply with borders and did not violate them with force, as Russia in Ukraine, Scholz stressed that the concept was applied to “all” and added in English: “To whom it may concern.”

In Paris, Fredericksen told reporters that she had received “great support” from her European allies and that there was a “very, very clear message … This, of course, must have respect for the territory and sovereignty of the countries.”

And during his last stop in Brussels, Fredericksen said “there is no reason to believe that there is a military threat to Greenland or Denmark.”

She reiterated that she still sees the US as Denmark’s closest ally, but when asked about the relationship between Europe and Trump, she replied: “I think everyone in Europe can see that it will now be a different cooperation.”

Fredericksen and the Rute have agreed that the Allies should focus on strengthening the Arctic defenses, Reuters reports, citing a source.

While Fredericksen avoids directly mentioning the issue of Greenland, her Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen told reporters that Trump “will not have Greenland”.

“People from Greenland are a people, also in the sense of international law,” Lockke said.

Asked if Trump would have to “invade” Greenland to get it, Lockke said he would not give instructions on how Trump should “get something he should have,” the Danish media reported.

In a press release, issued earlier this week, the Foreign Ministry said Lockke spoke with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and they both decided to discuss Arctic security between the US, Denmark and Greenland on a later date.

Danish opposition MP Rasmus Jarlov told BBC’s Newsnight that “all Americans have heard Denmark saying no, but obviously many people in the US think Greenland wants to be Americans – or that they can be purchased, to agree with this. “

He added: “Many Greenland dreams of independence from Denmark. But if that happens, it is not intended to become Americans after independence … it will never be American.”

On Monday, Denmark said she would spend 14.6 billion crowns (1.6 billion British pounds; $ 2.05 billion) to increase security in the Arctic region, in partnership with Greenland and the Faroe Islands, its other autonomous territory.
