Drona strikes have hit a large power plant in the Sudanese city of Port Sudan, causing a “complete interruption of power supply,” said the electricity supplier in the country.

Near the main international airport of the city, they were reported in explosions and huge fires such as paramilitary forces aimed at the key city for the third consecutive day.

The flights were canceled after drones hit the International Airport and a hotel near the current Presidential Palace, reports said.

“I see a huge cloud and fire that goes like the whole city … And now I heard that they were like two more strong bangs. It seems quite apocalyptic,” said journalist Christina Karer in front of the BBC Newsday program.

Fat black smoke could be seen at the dawn of the silhouette of the previous safe city, where thousands of people fleeing the two -year civil war have sought asylum.

On Tuesday, an electricity company in Sudan said it evaluated the damage to its substation, which violated the delivery of water, health and other services.

One drone was directed to the civil section of the Airport in Port Sudan and another struck the main army base in the city center, witnesses told AFP news agency.

A third drone hit a Fuel Depot near the southern port in the densely populated center of the city, where UN officials, diplomats, assistance agencies and Sudan’s army moved from the capital Khartoum, AFP reported.

A major hotel, located near the residence of Army’s main gene, Abdel Fatah Al Burhan, was also hit by the attack, the witness said.

After the attacks, UN has temporarily suspended help flights For Port Sudan, but regular assistance operations continue, said Farhan Hack, UN Deputy Speaker.

“None of our offices, premises or warehouses is influenced and we continue to carry out our regular operations,” added H -Hack.

On Tuesday, Sudan Khaled Al-Aiser’s government spokesman said that the military was guarding the affected fuel depots “as much as possible”, adding that “the will of the Sudanese people will remain unbreakable.”

The military accuses the paramilitary forces of rapid support (RSF) for the attacks of drones that began on Sunday. RSF is yet to comment on the attacks.

In statementThe African Union warned that the attack on Port Sudan is a “dangerous escalation” in the Sudanese Civil War and a “direct threat to the life of civilian, humanitarian access and regional stability”.

Before the attacks on Sunday, Port Sudan had avoided the bombing and was considered one of the safest places in the war-destroyed nation.

The paramilitary group is increasingly relies on drones to restore their lost territories, including Khartoum, which were returned from the army in March.

The two years of battles between the army and the RSF killed thousands, forced millions of their homes and created the world’s utmost humanitarian crisis.

Both the army and RSF are charged with war crimes.
