A Federal Judge in New York has allowed a lawsuit to move forward by two votes claiming that their voices have been stolen since AI Voice launched.

The judge rejected artists Paul Sky Lerman and Linea Sage claims that their voices were subject to federal copyright.

But the claims of the artists of a violation of the contract and fraudulent business practices, as well as separate copyright allegations that claim that the votes were used incorrectly as part of the AI training data, will move on.

California -based Lovo Inc. requested that the case be rejected in its entirety. The company has not yet responded to the BBC request for comment.

The judge’s decision comes after a flood of artists against artificial intelligence companies, which claim to abuse their work to train AI models.

The artist’s lawyer, Steve Cohen, called the decision “grand victory” for his clients, saying that he was confident that the future jury would “wear” big technologies “.

The lawyers for the hunting were called by the artists ‘claims “approach to the kitchen sink”, saying that the artists’ allegations had failed to file a claim against the company.

Artists, a couple living in New York, He filed a case for proposals for a class claim in 2024. After learning suspected clones of their votes, they were sold through the Lovo Genny speech platform.

The couple claims that they have been turned separately by anonymous LOVO employees to work with voice work through the Fiverr freelance online market.

Lehrman was paid $ 1,200 (about 890 British pounds). Sage received $ 800 (almost £ 600).

In messages shared with the BBC, it can be seen that the anonymous customer says that Lehrman and Sage votes will be used for “only academic research purposes” and “radio test scripts”.

The anonymous envoy said the voices “will not be discovered externally and will only be consumed internally.”

Months later, as they drove near their home in New York, the couple listened to a podcast about continuing strikes in Hollywood and how artificial intelligence (AI) can affect the industry.

This episode had a unique AI chat-interview with AI, equipped with text software. It was asked how the use of AI would affect Hollywood jobs.

But when he spoke, he sounded just like the g -n Lehrman.

“We had to pull the car,” G -N Lehrman told the BBC in an interview last year. “The irony that AI is coming to the entertainment industry. Here’s a voice that speaks to the potential destruction of the industry was really quite shocking.”

Upon returning home, the couple found votes with the names Kyle Snow and Sally Coleman, available for use by Paid LOVO subscribers.

Later, they found that the alleged Sage branch, which expresses a video raising video for the platform – while Lehrman was used in an advertisement on the company’s YouTube page.

In the end, the company removed the voices, saying that both votes were not popular on the platform.

The case will now move on to the US District Court in Manhattan.
